Delta again offers frequent flier deal
Delta again offersfrequent flier deal
Last fall, several airlines tried to bolster bookings by reducing the number of frequent flier miles needed to qualify for a free round trip.
Delta Air Lines is offering the deal again -- through March 20, members of its SkyMiles program can take domestic round trips for 20,000 miles in economy class or 35,000 in business class, which is 5,000 fewer than usual.
Members of other airlines' programs should check to determine if similar deals are available.
Paper ticket charge
America West Airlines, which connects Philadelphia to its 88-city network via Phoenix and Columbus, said it would start charging $10 for paper tickets when they are requested instead of routine electronic ticketing.
The fee will not apply to paper tickets issued by travel agents.
Airline resumes meals
America West has resumed serving meals on its long-haul flights, including those between Philadelphia and Phoenix.
The meals were suspended after Sept. 11 in an effort to speed loading and adhere to a schedule in light of new security precautions.
Casino guide givestips for gambling
The chance of confusion in planning a gambling holiday in Las Vegas or anywhere else is greatly reduced by the "American Casino Guide," by Steve Bourie, whose 2002 edition (Casino Vacations) is now available.
In addition to describing all the casinos, the book is a gambling primer that explains why some places are better than others if you hope to come out ahead.
The Vegas section has a map that shows where all the hotels are, solving one of the mysteries of first-time bookings.
The book is in stores or can be ordered online at www.americancasino-guide.com or by calling (800) 741-1596.
