Honored for wreath

LORDSTOWN -- The Ohio Christmas Tree Association has awarded top honors in the decorated wreath category to Melissa Grondeski of Newton Falls.

The award enables Grondeski to make and present a wreath to Ohio's Gov. Bob Taft and first lady Hope Taft at Christmastime. Grondeski works at Bailey's Christmas Tree Farm in Lordstown.

Vandalized stands

POLAND -- Police said someone vandalized stands near the football field at McKinley Elementary School, 7 Elm St. Principal Ken Ekis reported the damage after a pupil advised him that someone had spray-painted two words on a concrete block wall near the stands.

Custodians repainted the wall.
