AUCTIONS
XMary Mother of Hope Church will sponsor an art auction March 2 at the parish center, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa. A preview will get under way at 7 p.m. with the auction at 8. The cost is $10 per person and $15 for a couple. There will be door prizes and music. Refreshments will be wine and cheese, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, gourmet coffees, tea and a cash bar. BENEFITS
XMcDonald Lions Club will sponsor a Gourmet Feast on April 11 at McMenamy's, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:30. Tickets are $50 per person; call Carl Fossaceca at (330) 530-9875; Ray Getz at (330) 530-8276; or any club member. Proceeds will benefit McDonald Youth Scholarships, senior citizens van service, eye-care assistance and other community projects.
CELEBRATIONS
XNiles Gymanfa Ganu Association will hold its annual St. David's Day banquet Sunday at the McKinley Memorial, Main Street, Niles. A social hour will begin at 2:30 p.m., and dinner will follow at 3 along with entertainment. Tickets are $14 for the beef sirloin dinner and $13 for stuffed chicken breast. XSt. David's Society of Youngstown will hold its 111th St. David's Day celebration March 2 at Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road. A traditional gymanfa ganu will begin the event at 4 p.m. followed by a banquet of roast beef at 5. Tickets are $13, and deadline is Sunday. For tickets or information contact Margery Freed, 676 N. CRAFT SHOWS
XColumbiana County Career Center Youth Clubs will sponsor a spring craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23 at the career center, 9364 state Route 45, Lisbon. Area crafters who are interested in participating as a vendor should call the center at (330) 424-9561, Ext. 131, by March 6.
FESTIVALS
XZelienople-Harmony Business Association will sponsor its 39th annual "Horse Trading Days" festival July 17-20. Crafters, food vendors and nonprofit and for-profit organizations are being sought to participate. Call Joella Richard or Rebecca Shaffer at (724) 452-8631, Ext. 232, for registration information.
NIGHTS AT THE RACES
XSt. Joseph Men's Club will sponsor an Old-Fashioned Night at The Races from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 4565 New Road, Austintown.
PROGRAMS
XThiel College Organization of Black Collegiates will hold its sixth annual Black History Program and Soul Food Feast at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center at the college, 75 College Ave., Greenville, Pa. Bernard L. Humbles-Penn, a Native American lecturer and historian, will speak on "Genealogy and Indian Treaties." The program is open to the public and a donation will be taken at the Soul Food Feast.
TRIPS
XMuintir na h'Eirean, Irish culture organization, is sponsoring a bus trip Feb. 27 to Playhouse Square, Cleveland, for a performance by Mary Black, Irish pop music vocalist.
