Published: Sun, February 17, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- David E. Hess, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, will be the featured speaker at the Shenango Conservancy's 16th annual dinner Feb. 26 at Greenville Country Club. The program begins at 6 p.m.

Hess was named DEP secretary last year but has served in various other positions at DEP and its predecessor, the Department of Environmental Resources, and at one time was director of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Commission.

He is promoting state efforts to manage and conserve water resources in light of recurring droughts in recent years.

Dinner reservations are $20 per; call (724) 662-2242 or (724) 981-2880.

The conservancy is a nonprofit organization promoting the conservation of natural and historical resources in the Shenango River watershed. Its properties include the Kidd's Mill Covered Bridge and the 1843 Bigler House.
