Woman critical after car hits guardrail

WARREN -- A woman in critical condition was flown from Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital to Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland and a man was admitted in satisfactory condition to St. Joseph Health Center after a car crash Friday afternoon at Lover's Lane and Randolph Street.
Both of the injured, Ruth Gardner, 57, of Commerce Street N.W., Warren, the passenger, and Bobby Darhower, 55, of Iowa Avenue N.W., Warren, the driver, had to be extricated from the car, which hit a guardrail and became hung up on a tree along the Mahoning River around 4:15 p.m., the fire department said.
The car, which was westbound on Randolph, hit another moving car and a parked car, and was unable to negotiate the turn where Randolph meets Lover's Lane, and hit the dead-end guardrail, Police Lt. Cathy Giovannone said.
Nobody else was injured.
