YOUNGSTOWN -- MS Consultants has earned an Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies for its design of the Korean Veterans War Memorial Bridge in Struthers. The $7.8 million, continuous steel-girder bridge replaced an old truss bridge and links Struthers and Campbell. MS Consultants' design was recognized in the council's 36th annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Common Wealth Inc. and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce have received Community Impact Awards by Dominion East Ohio and Inside Business magazine for the effect their programs have had on the community.
The chamber has earned a $15,000 award for its role in the AeroPark project, a transportation and industrial hub at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. The AeroPark is home to three corporations that have invested more than $96 million and have brought 475 jobs to the area. The next phase of the project will be to market the 500 acres west and north of the airport.
Common Wealth Inc. earned a $5,000 award for its project of rehabilitating row houses that were once a part of housing for Youngstown Sheet and Tube workers in Campbell.
