NORTH JACKSON -- South Range High rushed out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter and went on to post a 73-43 victory over host Jackson-Milton in an Inter-County League girls basketball game on Monday night.
Crystal Schuler sparked the Raiders (16-1, 10-1 ICL), who led 22-10 after the first period, with 20 points and eight rebounds. Jodie James added a season-high 16 points along with eight rebounds, while Jenn Toth finished with 10 and four assists. Jessie Clayton had seven assists and four steals.
Jesi Hemphill led the Bluejays (2-15, 1-10) with 15 points. Sarah Johnson added 11.
Newton Falls 51, Liberty 47: NEWTON FALLS -- Megan McElravy and Desiree Sterling both had 16 points and sparked a third-quarter rally that led Newton Falls from a 24-20 halftime deficit.
McElravy had eight points and Sterling seven in the third quarter, as the Tigers (14-4, 10-4 Trumbull Athletic Conference) built a 17-10 advantage. Then Haley Lennarcic scored all six of her points in the final quarter to help seal the decision.
Sterling also had six rebounds.
Jessica White had 21 points and eight rebounds to spark Liberty, while Sarrah Rivello added 11 points and Jenn Cann had 10.
Leetonia 54, Columbiana 38: COLUMBIANA -- Jessica Deville collected 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Leetonia (12-5, 8-3 Tri-County League), while Jackie Durham added 15 points, eight rebounds and six steals.
Lisa Simon scored 13 points to lead Columbiana (5-12, 4-7).
