Allegheny finds hot hand in second half to upend Alfred

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Nick Catanzarite scored 23 points to lead four Allegheny College players in double figures, and the Gators defeated Alfred 77-68 on Monday night.
Ryan Meerstein added 13 points for Allegheny (10-10), while Damon Clayton scored 12 and Matt Magnusen came off the bench for 10. The Gators led 34-27 at halftime, then shot 70.8 percent (17-for-24) from the field in the second half. Allegheny finished 29-of-55 (52.7 percent).
Devon Downing scored a game-high 25 points for Alfred (9-11).
Edinboro 80, Slippery Rock 66: EDINBORO, Pa. -- Kenny Tate scored 25 points to move into sixth place in school career scoring with 1,425 points.
Duke Gartrell scored 18 points for Edinboro (14-7, 5-2).
Donteil Lewis and Aaron Epps each scored 14 points for Slippery Rock (6-14, 1-6 PSAC).
Women: EDINBORO, Pa. -- Megan Zitner had a 24-point, 17-rebound game as Edinboro snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 89-75 win over Slippery Rock.
Krystal Henson tacked on 24 points while Jodi Calderone had 19 points for Edinboro (9-12, 1-6 PSAC).
Nicol Ellis scored 19 points for Slippery Rock (10-10, 3-4).
