YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating the armed robbery of a tobacco shop in Cornersburg Saturday morning.
Thieves escaped with $3,500.
An employee of the Cornersburg Smoke Shop on Canfield Road said a black man pointed a gun at him and demanded money at about 10:10 a.m.
The man was with another black man, the employee said, and both men had been in the store earlier in the morning.
The employee gave the robbers the money that was in a bank deposit bag, as well as money from the cash registers.
He said that as the robbers fled the store, one of them yelled, "Pay day!"
The robbers ran east.
