MERCER COUNTY Driver in armed robbery gets probation

MERCER, Pa. -- A Rochester, Pa., man was placed on 18 months' probation Friday for driving a car used in an armed robbery.
Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Dobson imposed the sentence on Russell Stewart, 35, who blocked a vehicle driven by a woman at Roemer Boulevard and Indiana Avenue, Farrell, in December 2000.
Another man, of Beaver Falls, is accused of exiting the car and robbing the woman of $2,000 at gunpoint. Charges are pending.
Judge Dobson also sentenced a Farrell woman to six months to a year in jail for felony theft. Marcia Gregory, 34, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, had been placed on 30 months' probation in December 2000, after stealing more than $3,000 worth of jewelry and other items from her mother. But her probation was revoked after she violated it by using a controlled substance.
Also sentenced Friday was Jeanette Fazio, 25, formerly of Grove City and now of Pittsburgh, to 135 days to a year in jail for possession of cocaine. She was then placed on parole. Originally charged with sale of 4.6 grams of cocaine to an undercover agent for $400 in November 2000 in Sharon, she pleaded guilty to the lesser offense.
Jessica Yost, 22, of Beech Street, New Castle, also known as Jessica Rester, was placed on 18 months' probation and ordered to make restitution for felony receiving stolen property. In August 1998, she signed a check on her sister's closed account and tried to cash it for $6,000.
