MERCER, PA. Mich. man sentenced for rape

The Mercer native was in the area for his father's funeral when the crime occurred.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Michigan man will serve 20 to 80 years in prison for brutally raping a Sharon woman.
Common Pleas Judge Michael Wherry sentenced Henry Lee Jones, 34, of Benton Harbor, to four consecutive prison terms Thursday.
The terms include 90 months to 10 years for involuntary deviant sexual intercourse; two to 10 years for aggravated assault; four to 10 years for burglary; and 78 months to 10 years for criminal conspiracy.
On July 12, 2000, Jones surprised a 21-year-old Spearman Avenue, Sharon, woman at her residence, choked her until she was unconscious, then raped her with a mop handle. He then fled the residence. A jury convicted Jones Oct. 12 on all the counts.
Jones' cousin Randy Norris, who also took part in the attack, has been sentenced to three to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to rape.
At the time of the rape, Jones was on three years' probation for a 1999 Michigan conviction for attempted rape. He had also been placed on a sex offender registry. A Mercer native, he moved to Michigan in 1998 and was in the area for his father's funeral when the crime occurred.
Others: Also sentenced Thursday were: John Korloch II, 19, of Culpepper, Va., to 10 to 90 days in jail and $900 in fines for fleeing and eluding police, a misdemeanor, and reckless driving and hitting a parked car, both summary offenses. Korloch led police on a chase through Grove City Aug. 22 after striking a parked car on Memorial Avenue and failing to stop.
Raymond Mogor Jr., 32, of Reiber Road, West Middlesex, to 21 to 90 days in jail, fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $90 restitution for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, an ungraded felony. Police raided his garage Sept. 22 and found drying marijuana as well as 18 plants growing in a field owned by his grandmother.
Norman Crawford, 36, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, to two to four years in prison for possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, a felony, for selling 3 grams of cocaine to an informant for $150 April 1, 2001, at a Federal Street, Farrell, address.
