Two Oneonta pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout.
ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Troy Pickford and Jesse Carlson combined to hold the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to three singles as the Oneonta Tigers blanked the Scrappers 5-0 Friday.
Pickford (2-0) limited the Scrappers (43-28) to two base hits and no walks over the first seven innings.
Carlson allowed just one hit and no walks in the final two innings of work.
Bill Peavey, Pat Osborn and Andy Baxter each went 1-for-3 for the Scrappers, while the rest of the line-up was 0-for-21.
Robert Watson paced the Tigers (44-25) with a 3-for-4 night, including a pair of doubles.
The Tigers, who out-hit the Scrappers 7-3, scored solo runs in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
Despite the setback, the Scrappers are tied with Auburn for first place in the Pinckney Division of the New York-Penn League.
