New Castle's Pat Cain is top receiver for Gannon Knights

ERIE, Pa. -- Pat Cain of New Castle, a junior tight end for the Gannon University football team, returns to the Knights as the team's top receiver.
Cain (6-4, 235), a graduate of New Castle High and a 1999 transfer to Gannon from Toledo, led Gannon in pass catches last year with 25 for 336 yards and a 13.4-yard average, helping the team to a 5-4 record.
He also tied a school record for TD receptions in one game with three against Merrimack, and finished with four for the season.
The year before, he had 14 catches for 196 yards and two TDs.
Cain has started and caught at least one pass every game for his two seasons so far.
He ranks No. 8 at the school in career receiving yards (532) and receptions (39).
Reliable blocker

Cain is one of six area players on the Gannon roster, including holdovers Ryan Bonacci (6-2, 291), senior offensive lineman from Youngstown and Ursuline High; and Justin Palkovich (6-4, 205), junior quarterback from New Castle and Shenango High.
Freshmen are Kyle Harnett (5-11, 170), kicker-punter from Badger; Torrey Keeley (6-2, 180), wide receiver from Hickory High; and Ryan Vivelo (5-9, 170), defensive back from New Castle.
