ASSOCIATIONS

XAmerican Association of University Women, Warren-Trumbull County Branch, will meet Sept. 9 at First Presbyterian Church, Warren. Dinner at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by a program by Trumbull New Theatre. For information about AAUW or to make reservations call Cathy Williams, (330) 847-6795.

XMill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Smaldino's Family Restaurant on Market Street in North Lima for a program on personal safety and crime prevention. The menu will consist of stuffed pork chop, stuffed baked potato, broccoli and cauliflower, rolls and chocolate sundae. The cost will be $15.50, and reservations can be made with Joan Lucansky at (330) 755-8212 or Shirley Pappagallo at (330) 270-9779 by Wednesday.

XPast presidents and 50-year members will be recognized at the 56th annual meeting of Yo-Mah-O Chapter, International Association of Professionals, at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Fonderlac Country Club, New Springfield. A Sweet Adelines quartet will entertain. Barbara Sofranec will preside, and Joan Battagline will give the invocation. Judy Cundik is program chairman. Those going to the networking meeting at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at Akron-Canton Airport are to notify Sofranec. AUXILIARIES

XSt. Anthony Auxiliary of Struthers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the old hall. Telephone reservations will be accepted until Thursday. The social calendar will be updated.

CLASSES

CLUBS

XChristian Women's Club South will hold a "Going Once, Going Twice, Sold!" luncheon at noon Sept. 12 at Antone's Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St., Boardman. There will be a craft and bake sale and an auction with Marty Campana as auctioneer. The speaker will be Rose Britner of Fremont. Reservations are required by Thursday by calling (330) 757-4834 or (330) 793-6676.

XFriends of Boardman Library will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at the library for a social hour followed by a 10 a.m. program with Patrick Finan, president of McKinley Museum and Memorial Library, speaking on "McKinley and the Museum." Guests are welcome.

XWarren Christian Women's Club will hold "A Cultural Fair" from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 9 at Avalon Inn and Resort, Howland. Marge Lardis, chairman of the Mahoning County Civic and Cultural Society, will provide information on the group, and there will be displays from various countries. Judy Pyper will present "Have a Heart to Heart." Heather McNaughton will play the bagpipes. Reservations must be made by Thursday by calling Joyce Faiver, (330) 539-5837, or Diana Pishotti, (330) 638-1386. The cost is $8.50. A free nursery is included, but reservations must be made.

XWomen's Connection CWC West will meet at noon Sept. 10 at the Italian-American Veterans Centre, 115 S. Meridian Road, Austintown. Anna Santangelo will provide a demonstration on making greeting cards and gift bags. The speaker will be Mary Louisa Rimbach, gourmet cook, and music will be by Heather Johnston. The cost is $6.50. GUILDS

XAmerican Sewing Guild, Niles Chapter, will participate in a Border Shop Hop planned Sept. 12-14. A bus will be available Sept. 12 and will stop at five Pennsylvania shops where notions and quilt block patterns will be given out for free. The cost is $38 and includes a light breakfast and box lunch. For information call Dorinda Clay, (330) 538-3740. Guild members also may participate in an outdoor flea market Sept. 21 at Warren Central Christian Church. Tables are available for $5. In the event of rain the event will be moved indoors. A bus trip is planned to the American Sewing Expo Sept. 20-21 in Novi, Mich. The cost is $70 for members and $80 for nonmembers for the hotel and bus. Classes and entrance fees are extra. XPenn-Ohio Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild will meet at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 7 at New Castle Public Library, 207 E. North St., New Castle, Pa.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

XCatholic women's groups of St. Elizabeth Seton, including Junior Seton, Seton Circle, Seton III and Seton IV, will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 for Mass at Ursuline Center, Canfield. Lunch will be served afterward. The host group is Seton III.

SINGLES

XCatholic Alumni Club of Youngstown Inc. will meet at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14 for Mass at St. Rose Church, Girard. Dinner will be held at a local restaurant. Call (330) 545-8206 or (330) 788-9844 by Sept. 12 to attend. The group will take a trip Sept. 22 to Wendell August Forge and Prime Outlets, Grove City, Pa. Participants should meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Liberty Plaza behind Antone's Restaurant. For reservations call the numbers above by Sept. 21.

XSalem Area Singles will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Pamida parking lot, Columbiana, then attend the Columbiana Street Fair. Call (330) 332-1045 for information. The group will play volleyball from 8 to 10 p.m. Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30 at Salem Memorial Building. Call (330) 332-4000 for details. A picnic is planned at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at a member's home. SOCIETIES

XMahoning Valley Historical Society will celebrate its 127th anniversary during an event planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Ave. The program will include refreshments and walking tours of the cemetery to see the unique architecture of the mausoleums, markers and monuments. Youngstown police and fire departments' color guards will present a ceremony in remembrance of Sept. 11. The cost is $25 for MVHS members and $30 for nonmembers. Reservations are required by Sept. 8. SUPPORT GROUPS

XAn organizational meeting of Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Kelley-

Robb Funeral Home's Care Center in Hubbard. Groups are not limited to those served by the funeral home, and there is no cost or obligation to attend. For information call (330) 534-1952.

XA meeting of the Lupus Support Group scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for noon Sept. 10 at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave. For information call (330) 746-6361.

VETERANS

XDistrict 8 VFW Auxiliary will meet Sept. 8 at Copley VFW Post 7971, 1278 Sunset Drive, Copley. Breakfast will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., registration from 7:30 to noon and the meeting from 10 to 2 p.m. Wanda Thompson will preside.
