Town meeting will focus on new EMS rules

Published: Mon, August 26, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio State Emergency Medical Services Board's Trauma Committee will have a town meeting regarding new trauma triage rules at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Trauma legislation became effective in November 2000. It established a statewide trauma system that will match Ohio's most seriously injured adults and children to the hospitals best equipped to provide the specialized medical care required, Laura Tiberi, executive director of the state Division of EMS, said.

The town meeting agenda includes: new trauma triage rules for all EMS providers, 1-3 p.m.; special triage information update sessions for EMS instructors and medical directors, 3 to 5 p.m.; and a repeat of the sessions on new trauma rules from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Call Mike Glenn at (614) 728-6853 or e-mail him at mglenn@dps.state.oh.us for more information.
