Published: Sun, August 25, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

Fun and practical freebies will be available at the tents of local TV stations during the Canfield Fair.
WYTV Channel 33 will distribute free gun locks as part of its "Safe Family 33" campaign. Gun safety tips also will be given in demonstrations at the WYTV tent.
Schoolchildren will receive free book covers and mood pencils if they stop by the WFMJ Channel 21 tent Thursday, which is Youth Day at the fair.
WFMJ is a Youth Day sponsor. Children's activities and performances will take place at the WFMJ tent and on the fair's main stage.
Auditions for Fox 17/62 sportscasters will be at the Fox-WKBN Channel 27 tent at 11 a.m. daily and every other hour afterward. Each person will receive a free videotape of his or her tryout. Someone will be chosen to call a series of plays with WKBN sports director Robb Schmidt at a YSU football game. All YSU home games this season will be shown on Fox 17/62.
Contests, appearances by on-camera personalities and live news broadcasts from the fairgrounds are also planned by the stations.
