Carcass dumped in river
Pennsylvania Game Commission authorities are seeking information about a black bear carcass found in the Shenango River at the Twin Bridge area on High Street in Sharpsville.
Officials said the bear was about 100 pounds, had been gutted and appeared to have been shot with a high-powered rifle. It was also in a state of decomposition.

Conservation day setat Lowellville R & amp;G
The Lowellville Rod & amp; Gun Club will hold a Public Conservation Awareness Day Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a fishing contest, supervised archery and rifle shooting. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for these events as well as for other contests.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Lowellville Rod & amp; Gun Club is located on Quarry Road, just off U.S. Route 224 east of Poland.
A good day on the lake
Billy Klein, a 7th grader at Austintown Middle School, recently had a very good day on the water.
An avid angler since 4 years of age, the 12-year-old managed to land a 28-inch, 8-pound walleye at West Branch Reservoir in Portage County.
Billy's mother, BettyLou Klein of Austintown, said her son was so excited. "It was the largest fish he has ever caught," she said.
