LISBON -- An East Liverpool man is charged in the traffic death of one passenger in his car and the injury of another in a June 12 crash.
A Columbiana County grand jury recently handed up a secret indictment for Justin Moisey, 22, of Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road.
Moisey, the car's driver, is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of Jesse Fisher, 23, of East Liverpool.
Moisey is charged with aggravated vehicular assault in the injury of Michael Reese, 20, of East Liverpool.
County Prosecutor Robert Herron said Thursday that Moisey was charged because he had been drinking alcohol and operating the car recklessly just before the single-car crash, which occurred on East Liverpool Road in Madison Township.
Moisey lost control of the car and it went off the road, striking a ditch and overturning.
The vehicular homicide charge is a second-degree felony bearing a maximum eight-year prison sentence.
Vehicular assault is a third-degree felony bearing a maximum 18-month sentence.
Moisey is free on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond.
