Two bowling events are scheduled in coming days in the region.
In Parma on Saturday and Sunday, Fifth Third Bank and Mr. Hero Restaurants have teamed up with Brookpark Freeway Lanes to sponsor the inaugural Cleveland Kickoff Classic.
The winner is guaranteed the top prize of $2,500.
The scratch tournament is open to both men and women. Contestants will roll two five-game blocks on the first day before the field is cut to the top 24 for match play on Sunday morning.
Following the six games of match play, the field will once again be trimmed to the top five. The stepladder format will follow.
The tournament is sanctioned by ABC/WIBC and carries a $100 entry fee.

In Akron on Aug. 16-18, the Professional Women's Bowling Association will stage a regional tournament at AMF Riviera Lanes where 60 of the nation's top bowlers will compete for the $3,000 top prize at the fourth annual Akron Women's Open.
Returning to Riviera in Fairlawn will be three-time defending champion Cindy Coburn-Carroll. A local competitor will be Marla Chicase of Poland.
Other top PWBA members who have committed to compete include: Leanne Barrette (Pleasanton, Calif.), Karen Bowlby (Logan), Cathy Dorin-Lizzi (Sandusky), Linda Kelly (Dayton) and Jackie Mitskavich (DuBois, Pa.).
The Women's Open will include a Pro-Am for adults and youth.
