POLAND -- The marriage of Julie Lynn Kovacs and Dr. Stephen T. Basic III was solemnized by the Revs. Stephen Popovich, the groom's cousin, and George P. Popovich, his great-uncle, during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. June 29 at Holy Family Church.
The newlyweds received guests during a reception at the Grand Ballroom of Stambaugh Auditorium, Youngstown.
Parents of the couple are John and Nancy Kovacs of Curtice and Stephen and Patricia Basic of Rose Hedge Court, Poland.
The bride wore a two-piece, A-line gown of satin featuring a beaded bodice and off-the-shoulder straps.
Wearing periwinkle dresses were honor attendant Jennifer Batch of Toledo and bridesmaid Christen Basic of Poland, the groom's sister.
Anthony Magnetta of Boardman served as best man, and Jim Kovacs of Toledo, the bride's brother, was a groomsman. Ushers were Michael Blasco of Poland, David Riley of New York City and Samir Verma of Columbus.
Mrs. Basic graduated from Ohio State University, Columbus, with a bachelor's in landscape architecture and from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., with a master's degree in landscape architecture. She is employed by OCULUS in Charlottesville, Va., in historic landscape preservation.
Dr. Basic earned a bachelor's degree in biology and a doctor of optometry degree at OSU. He is in private practice in Charlottesville.
Since returning from a honeymoon to Kiawah Island and Charleston, S.C., the couple live in Charlottesville.
