PHILADELPHIA -- Freshman 5,000-meter runner Emily Schnitkey of Youngstown State University, competing in the Olympic Development program at the Penn Relays, finished 13th out of 28 in a school record 17 minutes, 21 seconds.
She bettered the old mark (17:36) held by Andrea Cohol.
YSU sophomore Kurt Michaelis can be seen in the Penn Relays' mile run on ESPN2 television today between 6 and 7:30 p.m.
Webb to playin LPGA Classic
VIENNA -- Karrie Webb is scheduled to participate in this year's Giant Eagle LPGA Classic on July 15-21. According to her agent last week, the tournament is currently on her 2002 schedule.
On the Monday following the 2001 tournament, Webb teamed with David Duval to play against Annika Sorenstam and Tiger Woods in the primetime, nationally-televised Battle at Bighorn. This special event prevented her participation in the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic last year.
Webb, currently 16th on the 2002 LPGA money list with $86,819, played well in her three previous appearances at the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.
She tied for 12th place in 1996, finished tied for seventh in 1998 and tied for third in 1999. This year will mark her first visit to Squaw Creek Country Club, where she can be expected to contend for the William G. Lyden Trophy and a share of the $1,000,000 prize purse.
A future Hall of Famer, Webb has 26 career victories, including five majors, and has earned over $7.6 million in her six years as an LPGA Tour professional.
Struthers linemanchooses Geneva
STRUTHERS -- Struthers High senior Josh Levoff, an offensive lineman for coach Gary Zetts' football team, will play for Geneva College.
Levoff, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 270 pounds, plans to major in youth ministry.
Liberty graduateleads Muskingum
NEW CONCORD -- Erin Zupko, a graduate of Liberty High School, is one of the offensive leaders for the Muskingum College softball team, which is ranked second in the country in Division III.
A sophomore outfielder, Zupko is batting .323 with 30 hits and 13 RBIs. She leads the team with two homers.
Warren JFK seniorselects Allegheny
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Sarah McNeil, a senior at Warren JFK High School, will attend Allegheny College where she will participate on the basketball team.
A member of the National Honor Society, the 5-foot-7 guard was a two-time, first-team All-County performer and made second-team all-NEO.

Boardman seniorsare All-America
BOARDMAN -- Boardman High School seniors Lindsay Knight, Hal Brewster and Ryan Yosay have been named Academic All-America by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Swimmers considered for the award must have earned at least two varsity letters in swimming and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.75.
Fitch graduateadvances in 800
TAMPA, Fla. -- University of South Florida's Stacey Havaich, a Fitch High graduate, placed second in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 14.95 seconds at the University of South Florida Invitational.
She will represent USF in the Conference USA championships May 8-9 in Louisville, Ky.
Akron host MACsoftball tourney
AKRON -- The 2002 Mid-American Conference softball tournament will be held May 9-11 at Firestone Stadium.
The champion of the three-day, double-elimination meet will qualify automatically to the NCAA Tournament.
