The man faces charges of aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.
AUSTINTOWN -- A pretrial hearing has been set for a Youngstown man who police said assaulted a Kmart security guard and stole two DVD movies.
Mohammed Amin, 42, of Amherst Avenue, Youngstown, is charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with records. His pretrial hearing is set for 6 p.m. May 20 in Mahoning County Court here.
Amin appeared in court Monday and heard the charges. No pleas were entered because the charges are felonies.
A security officer from Kmart on Mahoning Avenue told police that on Thursday, Amin removed two DVDs from packages, pushed her down and ran from the store. Security later caught Amin, and police found he was carrying two sets of identification: One that identified him as Mohammed Amin, and one that stated he was Mohammed Moughal. The identification had different Social Security numbers. Amin, who is Pakistani, also was carrying several different credit cards.
The DVDs were later found in a nearby mailbox.
The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service is working with local authorities to investigate.
