FUND-RAISERS March of Dimes plans series of annual Walk America events

Area parks will be used for the three events.
Three area parks will serve as sites for the 32nd annual WalkAmerica fund-raising event for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
Proceeds from the event go toward foundation programs of research, community service, advocacy and education. This year's focus will be on the prevention of premature births.
The dates and sites for area events are:
UApril 28 at Packard Park in Warren for Trumbull County. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the two-mile walk following at 10. A postwalk picnic will follow.
UMay 4 at Centennial Park in Salem for Columbiana County. Registration is set for 9 a.m. with the five-mile walk following at 10. The walk may be shortened if the walker chooses, and a picnic will follow.
UMay 5 at Boardman Township Park for Mahoning County. Registration will be at 9 a.m. followed by the walk at 10. A picnic will follow the two-mile walk.
Corporate teams, school teams and area residents are welcome to participate, and each walker who raises $100 will receive a WalkAmerica T- shirt. Other prizes will be awarded for higher amounts raised.
National sponsors are Cigna Health Care, Kmart and the National Peanut Board. Division sponsors are Humility of Mary Health Partners, Lamar Advertising, The DeBartolo Corp., J.C. Penney Co. and American Standard Corp.
