CHILD SAFETY TIPS

Know your children's friends and their families.

Know where your children are at all times.

Talk to your kids about safety, and make sure they know about strangers.

Focus on positive behavior and successes.

Types of abuse: Physical, 314; sexual, 183; neglect, 529; emotional maltreatment, 2.

Number of foster families by race: Black, 28; Hispanic, 2; Caucasian, 41.

Number of adoptions finalized, by race of the child: Black, 25; bi-racial, 2; Native American/Caucasian, 2; Caucasian, 5.

Number of adoptions finalized, by race of the family: Black, 13; bi-racial (black/white), 1; (white/Hispanic, 1; Caucasian, 11.
