A welcoming ceremony is set for this afternoon.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Akron-based InfoCision is expected to announce its first expansion into Pennsylvania this afternoon.
Workers spent Monday afternoon unloading supplies into office space downtown at Cascade Galleria, as others put up a company sign in a space next to the AT & amp;T National Relay Center, a call center that employs about 200 people and opened in July 1997.
InfoCision is a telemarketing company where employees in the religious, nonprofit, political and residential divisions call homes and businesses seeking contributions or recruiting volunteers; the commercial division handles inbound calls and makes telemarketing calls for companies.
The company already has more than 700 employees in Boardman and Austintown and has been advertising for 100 new positions in New Castle.
Company officials could not be reached to comment.
A formal announcement on the company's opening is expected at 1:30 this afternoon at the New Castle Municipal Building. Mayor Timothy Fulkerson has said he is having a "welcoming ceremony" for a national company that employs thousands of people.
He noted this is the first Pennsylvania location for the company. The mayor refused to identify the company before the ceremony.
InfoCision operates 19 centers in Ohio and West Virginia and has a total work force of 2,400.
