CANFIELD -- Mill Creek MetroParks' Kite Festival will be April 13 at the MetroParks Farm on state Route 46 across from the Canfield Fairgrounds.
The event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is sponsored by Home Savings and Loan.
Members of the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites will present kites of all kinds, games, flying demonstrations, and contests for the public. There will be a variety of entertainment, unusual kites and surprises.
Individuals and families are invited to bring their own kites to fly, and may make, buy or modify their kites for competitions.
Awards: The contests will offer separate divisions for handmade and manufactured kites, and all kites to be judged must be airworthy. Awards will be presented for handmade kites for best cooperative effort (open to families, Scout units, friends, etc.), largest, smallest and best of show. Manufactured kites will be judged for best modifications (streamers, tails, artwork, etc.) timed ascent (based on flying height achieved within a set time) and people's choice.
