Published: Fri, April 5, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

CAMPBELL -- A 19-year-old Campbell man was in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center this morning after being shot in the head, police and hospital personnel said.

Robert J. Shaffer of Jackson Street was shot around 4:57 p.m. Thursday in front of a home in the 700 block of Porter Avenue near the 16th Street intersection, police said.

Males arrested: Police have arrested two suspects: a 19-year-old Struthers man, who was scheduled for arraignment today in Campbell Municipal Court; and a 17-year-old Cleveland male. Police are also questioning a 19-year-old Youngstown man and 16-year-old Struthers boy.

An acquaintance of Shaffer's told police they were in the Porter Avenue home when Shaffer went to meet two men at the corner of Porter and 16th. Several minutes later, the acquaintance heard three gunshots and saw Shaffer on the ground.

Police recovered one shell casing in the front yard of the Porter Avenue address around 10:30 p.m.
