CANFIELD

Passed a resolution Wednesday night supporting the Canfield school board's 6.9-mill, five-year operating levy. The levy will appear on the ballot in May.

City Manager Charles Tieche announced a brush-pickup program will begin April 22 in the city's northwest section. Pickup in the northeast section will begin April 29, in the southeast section May 6, and in the southwest section May 13. Tieche stressed that city residents should put brush near the street on the first day of the pickup, as crews will not make more than one trip to an area. Brush should be 3 inches or less in diameter and 10 feet or less in length. Root bulbs must be removed.

Approved ordinances allowing Tieche to replace a city van for less than $17,000.

Gave first reading to an ordinance for a three-year contract of not more than $24,000 each year for leaf pickup.
