Heard Holly Carine from Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste District say volunteers are being sought for a cleanup along roadways in the Mosquito Lake area this month as part of he Great American Cleanup, April 1-30. Last year the township collection netted 193 pounds of litter. Those interested can contact Carine at (330) 675-2673.Carine also reported that there are two containers at the middle school drop-off site on Alva Avenue for collection of lightweight cardboard, such as cereal and tissue boxes. Corrugated cardboard should be flattened and dropped off there. No pizza boxes are accepted.The site also accepts cans, bottles and jars, all No. 1 and No. 2 plastics, such as milk jugs, pop and detergent bottles, newspapers and magazines and catalogs. Newspaper inserts go with magazines.Approved a 20-cent raise for two seasonal cemetery workers -- from $6.75 to $6.95 an hour.
Heard road supervisor Robert Sudzina report that two to five mailboxes are hit per year. Trustees approved replacing those damaged by snowplows up to a value of $50. Call trustees for details.
Announced that 500 feet of pipe has been laid on Clearview and Prentice streets, Eldon Drive and Templeton Road and 3,300-feet of drainage ditching has been done on Templeton.
Announced that Templeton will be closed Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for three culvert replacements.
Announced the township's annual auction for 8:30 a.m. April 13 at the township offices. An inventory of items is available at the office.
Added two names to the roster of examiners who look over commercial construction plans submitted to the Trumbull County Department of Building Inspection. Rito Alvarez of Akron, formerly of Youngstown, and Thomas Bode of North Lima will perform the service as needed, for $45 an hour.
Awarded a $61,528 contract to Butch and McCree Paving, of Hillsville, Pa., for paving improvements at the Mosquito Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Howland.
Awarded a $19,900 contract to Taneri Engineering, Inc. of Warren to prepare construction plans and specifications for planned improvements to Morrell-Ray Road in Mecca Township. The cost of the engineering work will be paid by the township.
