LEETONIA -- An informational meeting about the upcoming sidewalk construction on Pine Street will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at village hall. Village Administrator Gary Phillips said all Pine Street residents and anyone else interested in the project are invited to attend.
Stolen car burned
HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- A car found burning in the Hillsville Quarry was stolen in Boardman, police said this morning. They said the 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was reported missing March 16 by its owner, who lives in Austintown. Police said they found it burning at 11 a.m. March 26 .
In U.S. illegally
PITTSBURGH -- Sara Suarez, 60, a native of Colombia, pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to a charge of illegal re-entry into the United States. Suarez was arrested July 11 in Mercer County when authorities learned she was in the country illegally. Almon S. Burke Jr., assistant U.S. attorney, said Suarez had been deported from the United States in December 1990 and again in November 2000 but was able to return to this country again illegally. She will be sentenced June 21 by United States District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose.
CPR course offered
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon will offer a Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric CPR Course from 6 to 10 p.m. April 10 and 11 in assembly rooms D and E on the first floor of the hospital's Greenville facility, 110 N. Main St. The course, which is $15 per class or $22.50 for the full course, focuses on one-person rescue CPR. Adult CPR will be covered in the first session and pediatric CPR in the second. NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Contact EARS Helpline 16th annual volleyball tournament is planned for April 12 and 13 at the Y Sports Zone in Neshannock Township. The money raised will help fund the emergency assistance referral service. Teams will play for three hours with 10-minute breaks per shift.
