A rundown of planned Halloween festivities.
Halloween Town: Opens Sept. 28 at Yellow Duck Park, U.S. Route 46 between Canfield and Columbiana, 7 to 10 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 28, 6:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 29-31. Includes a drive-through at $7.50 each or $35 a carload; Haunted Hayride at $9.50 per person; Monster Maze, $2.50 each; Boogie Man Theater, Creatures Campfire and Halloween Hall of Fame; (330) 533-3773.
Haunted Corn Maize: Lanterman's Corn Maize, corner of Palmyra Road and U.S. Route 224, Canfield. Dark until 10:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from Oct. 5 through Oct. 28 weather permitting. Adults $6; children (6-12) $5; 5 and under, free; (330) 533-7189.
Nightlights: Ward Beecher Planetarium at Youngstown State University; 6 and 8 p.m. Oct. 19; 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Oct. 20, 27, and 28; 6, 8, and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Music, silliness, strobe lights and laser light effects. Appropriate for all ages.
Haunted Hollywood Horror: Boardman Township Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road; 6 to 10 p.m. each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Oct. 12-28. Pumpkin Carve-out contest Oct. 12-14 only: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 24th annual Witch Walk: "The Woods," located in front of Glenwood Middle School, Glenwood Avenue sponsored by Boardman High School art students. 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21, 27 and 28. Admission $1 per person, under 3 years old admitted free.
Crazed Corn Maze: Beight Farm, 11490 1/2 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, New Middletown: 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 5-27. Cost $7 per person. Groups of 20 or more receive a $1 discount per person. School field trips may be scheduled during the day by making reservations. Halloween at the Morley: Mill Creek Park, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20. Costume competition, extinct species graveyard, toilet paper mummy wrap and magic and illusions by Joseph Glenn and other surprises. Safe and gentle.
Witch Hazel and Witch's Cave: Mill Creek Park, meet at the suspension bridge, 2 p.m. Oct. 28 for a 2 1/2 -mile hike with moderate difficulty. Join us for a look at things in nature that remind us of Halloween and folklore that may have been used in magic and medicine.
Aut Mori Grotto's Haunted Hayride: 7209 W. Calla Road, Canfield. 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays Oct. 12 through 27. Closed Oct. 28. Adults $4, children 12 and under $2. Group rates available. (330) 793-3303.
Ghost Walk Supper: Trumbull County Historical Society will be serving a pre-Ghost Walk supper at the John Stark Edwards House, 303 Monroe N.W., Warren, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and 26. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. Reservations are a must. Call (330) 392-8725.
Haunted Hayride: Storeyland Christmas Tree Farm, 5148 state Route 7, 14 miles north of I-80, or two miles south of state Route 88 in Burghill. Nonhaunted hayrides 5:30-7 p.m. at $2 each; haunted hayride, 7 to 10 p.m. $3 each. Refreshments available for a fee. Friday and Saturday nights from Oct. 12-27.
Halloween Happenings: Detwiler Farm, 4520 Road, Columbiana, one mile west of U.S. Route 46, five miles south of Canfield and 2 miles north of Columbiana. Hayrides to the 10-acre "you-pick" pumpkin patch, straw maze, four-acre cornfield maze, petting zoo, fall decorations, apples and cider. Noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28.
Shocktoberfest: "Terror" City Amphitheater adjacent to Tower City Center, downtown Cleveland. 7 to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, 7 to 11 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays Oct. 5-28. Admission includes concert (Mushroomhead Oct. 5, or Alice Cooper, Oct. 6), two haunted houses, thrill rides and sideshow entertainment featuring The Enigma from the Jim Rose Circus. Stage Fright: Blossom Music Center, Cuyahoga Falls. Includes Caravan of Carnage, Wicked Walkthrough, Monster Midway and games, food and vendors. 8 to 11 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays, 8 to midnight Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 5-28. Tickets are $10 each at Ohio Acme Supermarkets or $12 at the door. Bring the stub from any high school football game and receive $1 off the price of admissions. Haunted Family Overnighter: Carnegie Science Center, One Allegheny Ave., Pittsburgh, 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Bring your sleeping bags, wear your costumes, and have some spooky science fun. HalloWeekends: Cedar Point, Sandusky, through Oct. 28. 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, noon to midnight Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. On Friday nights, only the main midway, frontier trail and a portion of frontiertown will be open. Millennium Force will be in operation. Fright Zone will be open 8 p.m. Friday and Saturdays.
