Annual drawdown
MILTON -- Lake Milton's annual drawdown begins Tuesday. Ohio Department of Natural Resources crews hope to drop water levels about 1 foot every 10 days, lowering the 1,685-acre lake by a total of 6 feet. They expect to finish the draw down by Nov. 30.
Officials said the Robinson Point launch ramp will remain open through the process but the Miller's Landing ramp will close. They cautioned boaters to monitor water levels for shallow spots, especially at the south end.
Operation Safe Streets
NORTH JACKSON -- The Jackson Township Police Department will be stepping up patrols during "Operation Safe Streets," Capt. Rick Snyder announced.
Officers will focus on speed violations, alcohol-related offenses, child safety restraints and seat belt laws. The operation runs Sunday through Sept. 8.
Packard family history
CORTLAND -- A speaker will discuss the history of the Packard family in Warren at the SCOPE Lake Vista Satellite meeting at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 in Lake Vista Club House. Those attending are asked to bring finger food to share.
