CONNEAUT -- Kara Anderson, 585 State St., and Shannon Stewart Birt, 6800 Alpha Drive, Kent, exchanged marriage vows during a ceremony Oct. 20 at First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Raymond Lamb officiated at the 2 p.m. service for the daughter of Robert and Patricia Anderson, 506 Main St., and the son of Janice and Paul Richard Harper, 6758 West Blvd., Boardman.
Before leaving on a Caribbean cruise, the couple were honored during a reception at the American Legion Hall. They live in Geneva.
Mrs. Birt graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in education. She is a fourth-grade teacher at Lake View Elementary School.
Mr. Birt is an accounts manager with Mentor Fitness Center in Mentor. He is studying music and psychology at the University of Akron.
The bride wore a sleeveless A-line gown enhanced with sequins and pearls and styled with a chapel-length train.
Brenda Calhain of Conneaut was honor attendant. Shje wore a navy dress, as did the bridesmaids, Kate Rickard of West Springfield, Pa., the bride's sister, and Tami Brouer of Cleveland and Darlene Dohanic of Conneaut.
John Senediak of Columbus performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Jason Rickard of West Springfield, the bride's brother-in-law, and Mark Senediak of Pittsburgh and Marc Ostrolenk of Boardman.
