Turkey call answered
YOUNGSTOWN -- From three turkeys in the freezer a week ago, to more than 700 turkeys today -- that's how Mahoning Valley residents responded to the Rescue Mission's plea for turkeys.
Officials said Wednesday that residents of the mission and all who come through its doors will have a Thanksgiving dinner to remember. The mission has the ability to freeze and put the turkeys to use in the days to come.
Funds for the needy
MIDDLEFIELD -- Employees of Kraftmaid Cabinetry have raised more than $30,000 to help hungry families in Trumbull, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties.
The funds, in the forms of supermarket gift certificates, have been given to local churches, including 26 in Trumbull County, for distribution to needy families, said Ric Weirick, a Kraftmaid manager, who organized the drive.
