Council OKs transfer of liquor license

Published: Tue, November 20, 2001 @ 12:00 a.m.

SHARON, Pa. -- City council has approved the transfer of a liquor license from Farrell to Sharon, clearing the way for former football star Lorenzo Styles to open a restaurant and lounge on East Budd Street.

Plans: Styles, who played football at Farrell and later at the college and National Football League levels, plans to convert the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 395 E. Budd St. into Styles' Restaurant & amp; Lounge Inc.

He plans to secure a liquor license available in Farrell and transfer it into Sharon, a practice the state allows when the receiving municipality -- Sharon in this case -- approves the plan.

Council did so Monday, adding its best wishes that Styles succeed with his venture.

Atty. Steve Mirizio, representing Styles, said the project includes more than $60,000 in interior and exterior renovations on the building.

The city's zoning board of appeals granted Styles a variance last week to allow him to use the building as a restaurant and lounge.
