The House passed legislation Thursday to amend Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to clarify retirement investment advice offered to workers who are managing their own retirement income assets. The vote was 280 yes to 144 no.

Internet
The Senate approved the legislation Thursday without a vote after considering an amendment by Sen. Mike Enzi to foster innovation and technological advancement in the Internet, in electronic commerce and in helping states simplify their sales and use taxes as they relate to the Internet. The vote on the Enzi amendment was 57 yes to 43 no to table, and thus reject, the proposal.
