Thiel fraternity to behonored by Legislature
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Phi Theta Phi fraternity at Thiel College will be honored by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and Senate on Tuesday for the group's charitable commitment to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Fraternity members and advisers will be in Harrisburg for the afternoon recognition programs in the two houses of the state Legislature. Phi Theta Phi surpassed the $1 million mark in raising funds for the hospital last year through annual two-day walk-a-thons from Greenville to Pittsburgh. They've made 34 trips so far, and this year's walk is set for Dec. 7 and 8 with a goal to raise $50,000. Money raised goes into the hospital's Free Care Fund to ensure that children in need won't be deprived of medical help because of family financial problems.
