Published: Mon, November 5, 2001 @ 12:00 a.m.

AUSTINTOWN -- Police collected two bags of suspicious substances during the weekend.

The first bag was collected at about noon Saturday at a home on Timberidge Avenue. The couple living at the home said the substance arrived in their mail. The substance was described as brown and flaky.

The second bag was collected at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Day's Inn at 1051 state Route 46. A housekeeper said she found a bag of white powder in a hotel room. The man who rented the room, who was from Sterling, Va., had already checked out.
