Islam talk set

WARREN -- Dr. Mustansir Mir will speak on the subject "Islam in the Context of Current Conflicts" at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, in Howland Community Church. Mir is director of the Center for Islamic Studies and a professor of philosophy and religion at Youngstown State University. After describing Islam and its origins, Mir will address why Islam is so often associated with anti-Western thought. Call (330) 856-3628.

NILES -- The area Single Adult Ministry is presenting a variety of worship and fellowship events, including:

Music program

SHARON, Pa. -- CompanyB will perform Broadway and patriotic tunes at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church to benefit the church organ fund. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children age 5 to 12; admission for children 5 and under is free. Call (724) 981-3232.

Young adults meeting

GIRARD -- The Catholic Christian Fellowship of St. Rose Church will meet at the youth center of St. Rose Church in the old school building at 7 p.m. Monday. The event is for adults between the ages of 18 and 30 to brainstorm about future events. Call (330) 545-4351.

Talk scheduled

LORDSTOWN -- Lordstown Lutheran Church will be host to Pam McGinnis of Ashland, Ohio, at 6 p.m. Sunday for her presentation "Across Country on Horseback." She rode alone from coast to coast in 1987.

Christian concert

BOARDMAN -- A Christian concert featuring recording artists Voices for Him is from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 10 at Trinity Fellowship. An offering will be taken to benefit the Trinity Fellowship Dream House Project.

Harvest project

AUSTINTOWN -- Idaho Road Alliance Church will hold a Harvest Sunday community celebration at 10:30 a.m. Sunday to remind people there are good things in their lives during trying times. Mimi Lodeck of Pittsburgh will provide praise banners for the celebration. A reception will follow.

Vocalist performs

NEW CASTLE -- Calvary Temple Worship Center will have Jim Hukill as its special musical guest at 6 p.m. Sunday. Hukill has used a wheelchair since childhood and is the founder of Eleos -- The Care Network Ministries. A reception will follow.

Praise music

YOUNGSTOWN -- The male chorus of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. church will sponsor a praise music program at 4 p.m. Nov. 17 featuring local male choruses and choirs.

All Souls' observance

YOUNGSTOWN -- In observance of All Souls' Day, prayer services will be at 1:50 p.m. Sunday at the chapels at the following cemeteries: Youngstown Calvary, Austintown Resurrection and Cortland's All Souls.

Eighth anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Lincoln Ave. Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Rev. Arthur E. Hill, pastor, at 4 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Robin E. Hedgeman, with the congregation of Bethany Christian Church of Cleveland.

Healing Mass

YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Casimir Church will have a healing Mass at 11 a.m. Nov. 14. A light lunch will follow Mass. Call (330) 743-3951.

Special music

CANFIELD -- Tenor John Camuos and the St. Nicholas Balalaika Orchestra will perform at 6 p.m. today at Western Reserve United Methodist Church to raise funds for Youngstown State University's Protestant Campus Ministry mission trip to Russia. Call (330) 792-5805.
