Undercover probe leads to 6 arrests

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- City police arrested six women on prostitution charges during an undercover investigation downtown.
Police Chief Victor Cubellis said the arrests are part of an ongoing effort to combat prostitution.
His office has received several complaints about prostitutes on downtown streets in the evenings, he said.
Undercover officers were approached by the women at various times Monday and Tuesday nights who offered to perform sex acts for money, police reports said.
The women face misdemeanor prostitution charges, Cubellis said. He said he did not know what penalties they could face if convicted.
Arrests: Those arraigned before a district justice on single charges of prostitution are Michelle F. Bryant, 35, of East Washington Street; Geraldine Fletcher, 45, of North Beaver Street; Tammi L. Weber, 32, of Friendship Street; Bonnie Sue Robinson, 35, of Court Street; and Gloria Hammerle, 32, of Morris Street, Darlington, Pa.
Police said Georgette Hickman, 36, of Locust Street faces two charges of prostitution.
