Former Youngstowner pens first novel

Ted Berndt, pastor of Faith Family Center in Wisconsin, recently published his first novel, "Search for the City" (Black Forest Press, $10.95).

Strongly allegorical, the book tells the story of four siblings searching a post-apocalyptic landscape for the mythic city, their only resource the book given to them by their parents. The novel includes a study guide with questions about each chapter.

Berndt, who was born and raised in Youngstown and attended Youngstown College in 1950, is nearly finished writing the sequel to "Search."
