ASSOCIATIONS

XThe American Association of University Women Gourmet Group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Caffe Capri 7807 Market St., Boardman. Hostesses will be Anne Cole, Jean Dornan, and Ruth Harris.

XWilliam Penn Association Branch 28 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Country Kitchen in Boardman. Summer events will be discussed.

ATHLETIC GROUPS

XMcDonald Sideliners will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

AUXILIARIES

XBrookfield Township Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday on the green in Brookfield. Afterward, the auxiliary will serve punch and coffee at the firehall.

XThe John J. Buckley Auxiliary 1292 Catholic War Veterans will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the post home. Dorothy Schultz, first vice president, will conduct the May crowning. A bakeless bake sale is under way. Dorothy Schultz and Anne Marie Zagger will be hostesses.

CLUBS

XLeCercle Francais will show the French film, "Jean de Florette" at 6 p.m. Thursday at the basement level meeting room of Youngstown Main Library. The film is in French with English subtitles. XNew Middletown Homemakers will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at CNC Clubhouse. There will be a short meeting followed by a picnic. Members are to take a casserole.

FRATERNAL GROUPS

XCroatian Fraternal Lodge 598 will meet at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building, McDonald.

GRANGES

XDublin Grange 1409 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the grange hall in Canfield. The topic will be an update on agriculture with Zella Baker in charge of the program.

POLITICAL CLUBS

XGirard Men's Democrat Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parkwood Youth Center, Trumbull Avenue.

XLeague of Women Voters of Trumbull County will meet Saturday at the Warren Women's Club. A brunch will begin at 10:30 a.m., and cost is $10. Election of officers will be held along with approval of the new budget and discussion of issues to be focused on in the coming year. Anyone who wishes to attend may call Velia Baba at (330) 638-1876.

XMahoning County Republican Women's Club will meet at noon Tuesday at Denny's in Austintown with Carol McClain presiding. Plans will be made for an annual picnic. Guest speaker will be Mark Monroe, chairman of the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

SERVICE CLUBS

XGirard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Girard Masonic Temple.

XGirard-Liberty Rotary will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the MetroPlex Centre, Liberty.

SINGLES

XD.A.R.E. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Boardman Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Route 224, Boardman. Activities planned are: miniature golf at 7 p.m. today at the Golf Dome, Girard; bowling extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Boardman Lanes at a cost of $10; visit to the Vocal Hall of Fame in Sharon with carpools forming at 1 p.m. Sunday at Boardman Christian Church and SFAR dance at 7 p.m. Sunday at Avalon Inn; short holes at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mill Creek; and general meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a dance lesson to be featured. XSalem Area Singles will hold a general meeting and covered dish dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. A picnic is planned for Wednesday at Waterworth Memorial Park in Salem, and game night is set for 7 p.m. May 26.

XSingle for Any Reason will attend a Mother's Day dance at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Avalon Inn. The cost is $4. Also planned are dinner at Ruby Tuesday's in Eastwood Mall at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; a divorce recovery meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, costing $1; and dancing at Salem Eagles at 9 p.m. May 26.

SOCIETIES

XMahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Four Mile Run Christian Church, Austintown. A talk on "Sailing Into the Sunset" will be presented by Elissa S. Powell.

XStruthers Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the museum, 50 Terrace St. Members will meet at the museum at 10 a.m. June 1 to carpool for a trip to the Clark Gable Museum in Cadiz. Call Marian Kutlesa, (330) 755-7189, for reservations.

SUPPORT GROUPS

XBeacon Breast Cancer Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the conference room at St. Joseph Cancer Center, 667 Eastland Ave., S.E., Warren. For information call (330) 544-4444.

XFriends Offering Compassionate Understanding Support will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Cancer Society office in Canfield. The group is for all breast cancer survivors and their support people. For information call (330) 533-0546 or (330) 757-8454.

XHOPE (Helping Other People Emotionally) is a bereavement support group for families who have been touched by the death of a child over 30 days of life. A meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ronald McDonald House. Registration is required by calling 330-740-3725.

XMahoning Valley American Cancer Society will present the support program, "Look Good Feel Better" from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the ACS office, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield. The program, geared to women who are receiving treatment for cancer, focuses on skin care, make-up techniques, nail care, wigs, scarves, hats and hair care. XMcDonald Chapter of TOPS meets at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

XMended Hearts, Chapter 7 satellite of Warren, will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The speaker will be Diane Racz, whose theme will be "Nutrition for the Cardiac Patient."
