AUCTIONS

XHoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa., will hold a charity auction "At the Auction!," from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature live and silent auctions. Items may be previewed beginning at 6 p.m. and the auctions will follow at 8. Admission is $15, and tickets may be obtained by calling (724) 652-2882. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, and there will be a cash bar. The institute will accept bids by proxy or in writing prior to the auction. Proceeds will benefit arts programming and preservation of the museum's art collection.

XThe Parent Teacher Club of St. Joseph the Provider School, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sponsor a Chinese auction Sunday. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and drawings will begin at 3. Admission of $4 includes one sheet of tickets, one cupcake and one beverage.

BENEFITS

XThe ALS Association will hold a benefit Y5K run/walk and children's race June 10 beginning at Solon High School and ending on the school track. The fee is $12 for entries mailed to Y5K Run/Walk, Solon High School, 33600 Inwood Drive, Solon, Ohio 44139. Entry fees on race day are $15. There will be awards in a wide variety of categories. XSt. Joseph Men's Club will sponsor a "Night at the Races" Saturday at 4545 New Road, Austintown. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with post time at 7:30. There will be free food. Beverages will be available.

CARD/BINGO PARTIES

XLake Milton Women's League will hold its annual spring card party May 23 at St. Catherine's Family Center, 1254 Grandview Road, Lake Milton. The card party will start at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and door prizes awarded at approximately 3:30 p.m. This is a smoke-free event. Tickets are $6, and are available from members or by calling Pat Baker at (330) 654-5888 or Peg Baker at (330) 654-4482

DANCES

XNorth Jackson Knights of Pythias Lodge 343 will hold a dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at the lodge at the interesction of state Route 45 and 18 in North Jackson. All types of music will be played for dancers of all ages. Admission is $5 a person or $8 a couple. For tickets call (330) 538-2521. Light refreshments will be available.

SALES

XEast Liverpool-Calcutta Area Garden Club will hold a plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Calcutta Lions Pavilion, state Route 170, Calcutta. Featured will be a variety of perennials, personalized wooden tool boxes and garden gloves and copies of the book "St. Clair Township, Then and Now." Also sold at the event will be historic afghans costing $45.95.

XA trash and teasure and bake sale will be held at Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Refreshments will be available.

XWest Farmington Pythian Sisters Liberty Temple 185, 123 College St., will hold its semiannual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 1 and from 9 a.m. to noon June 2, bag day. Clothing, books and household goods will be sold at reasonable prices. Lunch will be served Friday.

XA calendar of activities to which the public is invited is published Mondays. Please submit information to the Society Department by 5 p.m. Friday.
