RECALL Teakettles

Published: Mon, May 14, 2001 @ 12:00 a.m.

What: About 24,000 Martha Stewart Everyday teakettles.

Reason: Boiling water can be expelled from the kettle's spout, presenting a burn hazard to consumers. There have been 14 reports of this occurring, resulting in minor burn injuries to three consumers.

Description: The recalled kettles are stainless steel or in white-, sage- or slate-colored porcelain. "MSE Thailand" is printed on the knob attached to the lid of the kettle.

Sold from: October 2000 through March 2001 at Kmart stores nationwide for between $25 to $30.

What to do: Stop using the teakettles immediately and return them to any Kmart store for a refund. You also can call Wilton Industries toll-free at (800) 273-9398 to receive a refund or a replacement teakettle.
