Trial postponedfor ex-prosecutor

YOUNGSTOWN -- The trial of former Mahoning County Prosecutor James A. Philomena in common pleas court, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed. No reason for the delay was given and a new date has not been set. A county grand jury indicted Philomena, 53, in June 2000 on 12 counts of bribery, two counts of perjury and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Judge Richard M. Markus has been assigned to preside.

Philomena is already serving a four-year sentence in federal prison after pleading guilty to fixing cases while he was in office.

Road resurfacingto delay traffic

HOWLAND -- Traffic will be delayed begining Monday on East Market Street between state Route 82 and state Route 46. The delays could last for two weeks as the Trumbull County Engineer's Office resurfaces the road.
