BUILDING PERMITS Occupancy certificates

Published: Sun, May 6, 2001 @ 12:00 a.m.

The Ohio Administrative Code requires commercial and public buildings, and apartment houses with more than three units, to get a certificate of occupancy. Here are statistics from the Mahoning County Building Inspection Department for 1999 and 2000:

1999

Total commercial permits: 473

Permits for which certificates of occupancy were required: 288

OF THESE 288:

Buildings finished, inspected by building department, (but possibly not by other departments) not issued certificate of occupancy: 11

Number that got letters of adjudication from building department since April 13: 39 (12 of these got letters and subsequently got certificates -- hence double-counting.)

2000
