SOZON E. LYRAS, 74

CAMPBELL -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church for Sozon E. Lyras, 74, of 618 Matawan Ave., who died Friday in St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mr. Lyras was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Oinoussai, Chios, Greece, a son of Captain Elias G. and Irene Lemos Lyras, coming to Campbell in 1947. He was owner and president of Metropolitan Painting Co. and retired in 1982.

A lifelong member of the church, he was a member of IBPAT Painters Local #476, The Oinousiotiko Society, and after the war, was a member of Greek Merchant Fleets, before coming to this country.

Besides his wife, the former Irene Kotis, whom he married June 26, 1949, he leaves a son, Dr. Louis S. of Poland; a daughter, Sylvia Passas of Canfield; a brother, Petros E. of Greece; and four grandchildren.

A brother, George E. is deceased.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wasko Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be at 6 p.m.; and for one hour before services Monday in the church.

Contributions may be made to the church.
