Goodwill to help Sojourner residents

YOUNGSTOWN -- Residents of Sojourner House, Mahoning County's program for battered people, will benefit from a collaborative effort with Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries to collect and distribute clothing, toiletries, paper items and food. Attended Goodwill donation centers in Mahoning County will serve as drop-off sites.
Before this collaborative effort, donations to the safe house had been made through the Burdman Group. Under the new system, only emergency clothing, paper products, toiletries and food will be stored at Sojourner House, freeing space at the facility. Sojourner House residents will be given vouchers to receive free clothing at Goodwill retail outlets in Liberty and Struthers.
Goodwill collection sites are at 2747 Belmont Avenue, Liberty; 460 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers; 7986 Southern Blvd., Commerce Park Unit 9, Boardman; and 4950 Mahoning Avenue, Austintown.
For hours, call Goodwill at (330) 759-7921. For more information about the crisis program, call Sojourner House at (330) 747-4040.
