HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Temple Beth Israel Cemetery here for David Saul Filner, 89, of 197 Greenwood Drive, who died Monday afternoon in Sharon Regional Health System hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Filner was born July 26, 1911, in Bendene, Poland, a son of Isaac and Freida Gilbert Filner.
An alumnus of Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, he worked for National Nickel Alloy in Greenville for 35 years and retired as a supervisor. He and his wife owned and operated a bakery in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh before moving to the Shenango Valley. He was a member of the temple and Greenville Country Club.
Besides his wife, the former Norma Tolly, whom he married Aug. 19, 1934, he leaves two sons, Joel B. of New York City and Paul H. of Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A daughter died in infancy. Three brothers and two sisters also are deceased.
