PREP TOURNAMENT Campbell moves on in Div. III

BROOKFIELD -- Senior Fred Ramos pitched and hit Campbell Memorial High to a 9-3 win over Brookfield, in the Division III sectional baseball tournament Monday.

Ramos (3-1) got the win for the Red Devils (7-7), and he had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs.

Jason Metzka added a homer and three RBIs, while Erik Bonilla had two hits and two runs scored, and Aaron Dobich doubled for Campbell, which led 8-0 after three innings.

Newton Falls 7, LaBrae 0: LEAVITTSBURG -- Tim Bauman had a single and a double, while Tom Nemet added three hits for the Tigers (6-9).

Dave Montgomery and Darrin Brounce also had doubles for Newton Falls.

Girard 10, Champion 0: CHAMPION -- Senior lefty Mike Pearson (4-2) threw a three-hitter with five strikeouts for the Indians (9-5), who blanked the second-seeded Golden Flashes (9-8).

Newton Falls will play at Girard on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Pearson is 3-1 in his last four starts, allowing one earned run in 21 innings.

Jason Collins, Shawn Petrarca and Greg Cook each had two hits. Petrarca had a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
